Dental Implants

Dental implants are an appealing solution to replace missing or extracted teeth. Implants replace the "root" of the lost tooth under the gum and a crown replaces the top of the tooth above the gum. Implants have the advantage of not having to be taken out when compared to a partial denture.

The entire implant process is performed under local anesthesia and are painless. The implant must be allowed several weeks or months to heal depending on the type and location of the bone , during which time the jaw bone will form around the implant in a process called osseointegration.

After the implant has healed it is time to place an abutment on the implant. The abutment serves as the base for your new tooth. Once the abutment is placed an impression of the abutment  is used to create your permanent restoration. Once the restoration is completed, your smile will look refreshed and the implant  will feel and function like one of your own teeth.
